February Newsletter '10

Greetings,

For such a short month February has been filled to the brim with… well mostly planning and preparation. We had some fun and big events too, such as Emily's birthday and Valentines Day, and some exciting ministry news.

James Cistern Community Ministry Team

I'm very excited to write about a new ministry just beginning on Eleuthera that I have been dreaming of for a long time. One of the distinctives of the Eleuthera Bible Training Center (and one of our biggest assets) is our commitment to an interdenominational emphasis: seeing members of different traditions in unity.

This month a pastor in our settlement approached me about beginning a new ministry centered around getting all the churches in our settlement to work together. Interestingly, it was the disaster in Haiti that prompted this discussion; in trying to answer the question "how can we all contribute together to aid."

The new ministry is called the "James Cistern Community Ministry Team," and it is composed of all the pastors in our settlement. I don't have space to write on how excited I am that this is happening and frankly how amazing it is that this is happening. This new ministry already sending aid to Haiti and supporting community projects.

We are working to set up the organization to eventually become island wide, and we're hoping JC can serve as a model for how to operate in other settlements. Please keep us in prayer as we being serving together and check out our ministry website www.elcmt.com!

Family Time

February is Emily's favorite month because it has her two favorite holidays: Valentine's Day and her Birthday! Each year is better than the last, and this year was particularly fun because we got to enjoy it with Micah.

On that note and in honor of Emily's birthday we've put together a bunch of our favorite pictures of our adventurous little man for you to enjoy…

Update
February really was a preparation month for us. I begin teaching classes tonight for our 5th course in Rock Sound: Bible Doctrines Part I. Usually there's a whole month of preparation on my part for a class, so that alone has been busy. Not only that, but we also had an All Student Reunion this month. On top of that this week marks the beginning of "Team Season" for the Training Center. Our very first team of the year (Roswell Community Church) is here and ready to serve. Besides all the preparations here on Eleuthera, Dave Hawkins is traveling to St. Martin to begin course #6 Monday, and Brad Fox is starting an entirely brand new batch of students on Freeport Monday. So by the time you're reading this we'll really need your prayers for all that is going on as March kicks off. Watch for updates and articles coming soon.

Pray for our new missionary candidates as they're traveling to the islands as an introduction to CMA's particular mission field
