October Newsletter '09

Greetings,

October was a full month! We had many ministry opportunities and the month ended on many high notes: Micah's half-birthday, our second class in Rock Sound, and a Halloween dress-up!

Our Little Pumpkin

We've developed a little tradition, which we think comes from our moms, of making Micah's Halloween costumes from scratch. Emily spent hours sewing and stitching, and soon we had a little pumpkin suit.

Micah had a great time, he figured out really quick that if you go up to the doors they give you treats in brightly colored packaging. Then he figured out that those treats were tasty and soon he had one in his hand all the time.

We had such a fun time with him, it was nice to be out as a family and also wonderful to see our friends up in Spanish Wells again.

Also, Micah turned 18 months old this October. We've posted our favorite pictures of him on our website enjoy the pictures HERE.

Old Testament Survey with Dave Hawkins

We continue to praise God for the turnout and involvement of our students from the last class to this most recent. Our Director of Training, Dave Hawkins, came to Eleuthera to teach Old Testament Survey. It is a comprehensive overview of the entire Old Testament, where our students are exposed to the theme, structure, and chronology of each book.

The response from the students was astounding. Culturally, I hear many sermons from the Old Testament, however I think this was one of the first times that these students saw and understood the whole story from Genesis to Malachi. CMA currently has schools operating in St. Martin and Freeport., and we are truly blessed to have the privilege of teaching the Word.

Update
As I mentioned we have three schools functioning simultaneously. Our director Paul Voss recently got back from St. Martin, and Brad Fox is teaching this coming week in Freeport. However, the biggest news for CMA is an upcoming Graduation for our current students in Freeport. This will be the 5th Graduation Ceremony that we've celebrated, expect to hear more in our next prayerletter.

Our family is doing great, and we are staying quite busy, both with family and ministry. Micah is simply a joy, it seems that each day with him is better than the last. The one exception to our good month is that our little dog, Tag, will need to have his leg amputated. That's been difficult, but we're ready to have him back and care for him no matter how many legs.
