August Newsletter '09

Greetings,

If you told me August had 60 days in it, I'd totally believe it. This month has been one of the busiest ones EVER. With all the excitement and goings on, such as teams, trips, visits, and goodbyes - we've got even more ahead of us in September.

Dallas is "just what the doctor ordered" - literally

Have you ever had a toothache so bad that you couldn't sleep at night, chew, or open your eyes. Yeah, I had that. After a little Aleve and the recommendation that we go see our old dentist, we got tickets for Texas, and this trip provided relief on many levels.

We got to reconnect with our sending church - FBC Frisco. Emily and I got to share in the Morning Services, Sunday School, and an Evening Service. The best part of our time back in Dallas was hanging out with our small group again - they are just like family. I also got to work at church again, it felt so familiar and was just refreshing to my soul.

I told Emily it feels like we've been gone for years, and like we were just here last week. We are so grateful for our church family - God has given us a treasure in them. And even much more than a triple abscess repair and re-root canal, this trip was "just what the doctor ordered!"

Look who stopped by...

August was the month of visits! Not only did we finish up team season with two fantastic teams, but we had my sister and mother visit, the Reimers and Greg and Michelle (our friends from DTS) visit, and our old missionary colleague Julie Landau visit!

There is more than I can write but I don't have space to tell - so I'll just give you the links to read more - special thanks to Mom and Kari for spending time with us.

Update
Well with all the excitement of August we still had all our normal responsibilities and we finished up our summer teams on a high note. However, while August started out with the joy of teams it ended with us having to say goodbye. Our missionary coworkers, and more importantly close friends, Brad and Alicia Fox have officially left for Freeport to head up CMA's Training Institute there. After helping them pack every square inch of their container we waved goodbye at the dock as they took their two kids, Tristan and Evelyn, and headed to their new post on Grand Bahama. The end of August does not mean anything is slowing down however. On Friday we are hosting our first "Come and See" Seminar for starting a new school in Rock Sound, Eleuthera. Additionally, I will be teaching course 1 in September as well.
