August Newsletter '08

Greetings,

This month has been our first full month here, although we've only been moved in for half of it. Look for our missionary partners, gathering storms, and a sweet video of Micah.

The Foxes Are Back

We were extremely excited to welcome back to the island fellow missionaries Brad and Alicia Fox and their two kids (with a brand new baby girl). We first met each other in 2002 as summer interns, and it is encouraging to see how the Lord has now led us all here to serve together again.

The Foxes have been missionaries on Eleuthera for a couple of years and they just recently went back to the States to have their second child Evelyn Marie Fox, and she is a beautiful happy baby.

Brad and I are very like-minded in our ministry philosophy, and we're also good friends who have a lot in common. It is such a blessing to have missionary co-workers who you can both work with and perhaps more importantly do life with.

Hurricane on the Horizon

Well along with the power outages and the sand flies, we're being officially welcomed to the Caribbean with a looming tropical storm thought to become a hurricane. We are preparing with extra jugs of water and canned food, and we've also got the training center all boarded up with plywood protection.

Right now the forecast is for the storm to hit us dead on, while stalling over us, and strengthening. We're a little nervous, but the home we live in is very strong, and we won't be alonea s Brad and Alicia will go through it with us.

There's a good chance that in the next few days we will be out of power/internet for possibly quite some time. While communication is down we will appreciate your prayers, and you can count on me posting something on theflunkers.com just as soon as we get our power back.

Update
Much like the rest of the world around Labor Day, classes are soon to resume. We've got the class Bible Doctrines II beginning the second week in September, and our students are ready to get back. It is going to be an exciting time to begin the training. Micah is doing great and growing like a weed. He's four months old and already 20lbs. We've got a video of him you can watch HERE. Finally, we've updated our budget after living here for a month and we're still working on making our final calls, so you might still get a call from us.
