8.20.08 - Our First Team

Our first team during our time here was a GREAT one! Teams routinely come down from the US during the summer months, and part of our job is hosting them to help facilitate their/our ministry goals.

This team was from Maranatha Church from FL. They were a younger team, some high schoolers and graduates, but they were mature for their ages. Although not the specialized construction team that others are, these kids worked great, and with their help we finished siding and painting (as well as starting the roof) on the house we're building.

They also had a great heart of ministry for the kids on the island. Their main ministry throughout the week was VBS with the kids in the settlement.

For our first team of our time here, they were such a blessing and quite often it felt like they were simply serving us.

Emily has also had the chance to do a bible study with the girls from our settlement with our friend Julie Landau. Each Tuesday night the girls meet and have dinner and then bible study together. This is a very exciting ministry because there are no other opportunities geared specifically for women.

We also recently had a dinner party at our co-workers, Wade and Tammy Weinburger's home. Our transition to living here is going well, even if we're still unpacking boxes, yet we know there is still much to learn.
