Alaska Trip: Part 1

Our good friends Jesse (Cedarville roommate) and Erica Frederick gave us the best going away present as a personalized trip/tour through Alaska. This is Emily’s, mine, and Micah’s first trip ever to the nation’s largest state, and we are having an amazing time. We are staying with Jesse and Erica at their place in Anchorage, but we’ve got some serious traveling around the state planned out.

So far, we’ve already been down to Seward and seen whales, sea lions, and glaciers. Alaska is just beautiful and we’re having exceptional weather. Soon we’ll be headed up even further north to the interior to go to a cabin and see Denali Park and Mt. McKinley.

Our vacation trip will carry over into July, so you can catch the rest of our adventure in next month’s newsletter.

Home to Wisconsin

Earlier in the month I just got to thinking, “We’re about to head out to the Caribbean and who knows when I’ll get to spend time with my dad again?” So, we thought enough wondering, why not just go home. So we got tickets and surprised my Dad for Father’s day. Our trip home was so wonderful. I just forget how much I love home when I’m away for so long. We got to go fishing and up to the cabin. Everyone wanted to hold Micah, so he got passed around a lot, but we think he had a great time too.

Aunt and Uncle in Dallas

Emily’s Aunt Susan and Uncle Mike made the long trip over to Dallas to spend some time with us before we leave. We had a great time with them, lots of great conversation, national monuments, and a trip to Dallas’ Arboretum filled our time together. Emily’s favorite part of their visit was simply spending time with them. Even though we didn’t get to go see a rodeo with them, we’re so thankful that they made the trip down to see us.

Update
Well, life is getting stupendously busy right now. We’re trying to do everything we have left to do in Dallas. We’re making lists and running here and there to tie up all the loose ends before our departure to Eleuthera. Micah is doing great and we’re getting a little more sleep at night (although he still has his moments). My last heart checkup went great, and everything looks stable and there is no sign of poor progression. So, there is a dentist appointment, another family check-up, and a few more odds and ends before we’re ready to go!
