March Newsletter '08

Greetings,

March sure seemed like a much harder month than we thought it was going to be. Both Emily and I got sonograms, we had fans and water damage, we’ve officially started support raising, and we’re still waiting on the baby.

Human Anatomy Month

It’s good to make sure your health is as good as it can be and to take advantage of American health care before you leave the country, but we got a bit of a shocker when I went to see a cardiologist after feeling some chest discomfort. The doctor said that he thinks I have a leak in my aorta valve and had me do a stress test to learn more. After the exam he said that it looks like I might have a congenital heart defect which would require surgery. This was quite a shock and we quickly called friends and family to pray for us. Then a week ago I talked with another friend who is a heart surgeon and he looked at the lab work to conclude that there actually less of a chance that I have that serious of a problem. Needless to say we’re still looking into it, but the good news is that we’re learning to trust in the Lord more.

Also, Emily had a great sonogram of the baby. You could actually see his little face, and he really looks sooooo cute. It’s just amazing what they can do with technology these days, whether that’s seeing a picture of my heart or our baby in mom’s belly. Also, thanks to everyone who has been praying for us, we’ll keep you up to date with what we learn.

Mission Support

Finally, this month we’ve been able to start raising support. Even as I write this we’re talking about putting together and sending out our support packets. Whenever we talk about raising support there is the tendency to want to control our financial situation, but we remind ourselves each day that God will provide as He always has.

You may have already got our postcard in the mail, and hopefully by this weekend we’ll be sending out our full support packets. If you’re interested in learning more about partnering with us on mission you can checkout how to support the ministry HERE.

Update
So, we’ve had fans – giant noisy fans in our apartment for half the month due to some water damage, however they just left this week. Also, Emily is very pregnant, so stay tuned on that. We’re pretty much expecting the baby any day now. With the fans gone the house is now baby-sized, and Emily keeps on making it better and better. And Emily just told me that she almost called everyone today and said that she had the baby, only to say “Happy April Fools Day,” but she didn’t.

Another cool thing this month was that I got to play my Grandmother’s accordion in church. Grandma used to play the organ at church and occasionally the accordion, so it was special to hear the accordion again in church. You can checkout a video of the accordion in church HERE.
