5.19.10 - Kari and Julie

Well we're finished up with our visitors for 2010, now that my sister and our friend Julie have boarded back USA bound. Although it was a nice long visit, and one which spoiled us all, Micah especially.

He learned real quick that Kari is about as fun as Aunts can be, and each mooring when I got him up, he would immediately start chanting "Re Re," "Re Re," (which is his name for Kari).

Even today only 1 hour after we dropped them off at the airport, Micah was already asking for her.

So apart from bringing presents and goodies, Kari is fun because she treats life so lightheartedly (things can get kinda intense sometimes). This also means Micah gets tons of hugs, wrestling, kisses, crazy hair-dos and outfits, high-5s, and dancing (not to mention the non-stop singing).

This was Julie's first time to Eleuthera, but she has seen pictures for years. Kari and Julie were teammates in college and after school they've been roommates for years, so finally Julie got to see the island firsthand.

And boy did they tour the island. I think of all the days they were here they went to the beach everyday but maybe 1. We also had the privilege of eating out a few times with them, and as always we introduced them to Bahamian cuisine.

Both Kari and Julie got to come to class with me 1 night, and it was fun to have them here (no embarrassing stories, except some disturbing teaching about Cain's wife… you'll get it later). It was fun for me to show them what it is I get to do here.

We took them to church in Spanish Wells and both times they got to see the Manatee. They soon realized that even thought our island only has 1 road, it can still take a long time to get places.

One of my favorite parts about them visiting is that I think I head Emily laugh more than I have in many weeks.

She had a lot of fun playing cards with them, Phase 10, the "Train Game" (Ticket to Ride), and just spending some time with the girls (watching Biggest Loser and stuff like that).

We are very thankful they took the time to visit us and bless us with their company. It just seems so long before we'll see them again… what's that?… Micah is already calling Kari's name again! "Re Re!"
