12.04.09 - New Testament Christmas Party

What an amazing blessing it is to have the privilege to teach. Not only do have the best subject material - the Bible, but I also have some fantastic students who are eager and receptive to learn.

Tonight we finished up our 3rd and final class for 2009, New Testament Survey. But tonight wasn't a lecture night, it was exam night. Everyone gets nervous when we have exams, and I didn't give them much help - either you knew it or you didn't.

However, after the test it was celebration time, not only for the completion of another course, but because this would be the last time the entire class was together before Christmas. During the week one of the students suggested that we have a Christmas party and everyone bring a dish. We had more then enough leftovers and we absolutely enjoyed our time together.

Emily made everyone a Christmas bag of goodies as well as cards that she passed out to the class. Then they showed their generosity by publicly thanking me for teaching and giving me a Christmas card. Not only did they give me a beautiful card and gift, but one of them also handmade a hand bag for Emily. Teaching the class is reward enough, but to have them express their gratitude like this simply makes me cherish the opportunity to teach.

Here is perhaps the most rewarding thing of all, their testimony after the class, here's what some said:

"Certain religions have doctrines that they teach that I have found not to be Biblical; unless what is taught can be proven in the Scriptures, we need not obey."

"It was amazing to find out what the Bible actually says about certain topics; we hardly go into such depth of study. Thanks, I was truly enlightened!"

"Class made me realize that opinion does not matter, only the Word is important."

"Coming into this Bible study course I knew very little about the Bible, however now I am deeply enriched with the knowledge of the Word and have a closer relationship with God."

The classes here are such a blessing. Emily and I are so privileged to get to do what we do, and following the wonderful time of fellowship, after the journey through the New Testament with these students, we have much to give thanks for.
