4.09.09 - Micah's First Birthday Party

Its true that Micah is not officially turning one until the 23rd, but this was the last full day that Grandma and Grandpa Flunker could celebrate in the festivities (and actually the 9th of April is much closer to his expected "due date" one year ago... so its kinda like his 1 year "this is when you should have arrived party").

Although we had the party a little early, Micah didn't take long to understand that something special for "HIM" was going on. Emily worked all afternoon to make a super cute cake for him and for the adults. Originally we were going to have the same cake, but then Emily made a healthier cake for the 1 year old made out of bananas - while the adults got the mix.

He started a little hesitantly with just a finger or two in the cake, but then it was fist-fuls of icing as soon as he realized how "yummy" it was.

Next thing you knew he was wearing the entire birthday cake.

We sang him happy birthday and took lots of pictures. Then he opened his first batch of presents (we are saving the majority of them for the second batch on his real birthday). The Grandma and Grandpa got him two of his new favorites: a remote (which looks like a phone) and cars. Micah LOVES cars. He would hold one in one hand and another in the other hand, and just walk all around with two cars - one in each hand! Then he also loves remote controls (really anything with buttons), so now he has his very own remote. Finally aunt Kari got him some styling clothes - all Nike with Michael Jordan, because Micah's initials are MJ and he was born on the "23rd."

We had a great pre-birthday party - and we are so blessed to have a soon to be 1-year-old!
