June Newsletter '13

Greetings,

It has indeed been a full year! From August 2013 through May 2014, our year at Windermere has been filled with surprises and challenges, along with rewards and opportunities for ministry and growth. Look ahead for the expansion of our Bible College, Graduation and the announcement of a growing family.

Windermere Bible College: North Churches

Through much prayer and council, we expanded the training courses to the northern portion of the island. There is such a need for churches to invest in trained leaders who can begin replicating themselves in new leaders, grown right up in local church, that we have seen an opportunity to carry the Antioch curriculum to some key locations.

In Palmetto Point, Hatchet Bay, and Spanish Wells we now have students going through the material in both official and unofficial status.

We’ve already crossed the foundational courses in Hatchet Bay and will being Acts in the fall. Please keep us in prayer as these churches works towards the paradigm shift in their thinking towards discipleship.

Graduation

The ministry to our high schoolers is punctuated by the celebration ceremony for High School Graduation. This year we had 10 intrepid young people complete their requirements for finishing their degree. Although the path was sometime tedious and the road towards maturity is often filled with trials and challenges, we are encouraged to send these graduates off into the world, knowing they’ve been prepared to listen to God’s call on their lives.

A Baby is “almost” Born

The past 7 weeks have been long and lonely, as I have remained on Eleuthera to finish up the responsibilities for our schools and the campus. As bummed as I am to miss some of our summer teams, I’m right now writing from the airport on my way to meet with Emily and Micah again in Ohio.

Emily and Micah left almost 2 months ago as she would be unable to fly after so many months pregnant. And we’re going to have a little girl!!! How exciting. Please keep mother and baby in prayer as the due date is only 1 week away. And stay tuned for more exciting news!

Update

Micah has joined a Taekwondo dojo in our efforts to focus his energy. So far his is loving it and will hopefully achieve a yellow belt before its time to return to the island. He has been loving his time in school and reading full books now. Of course his favorite boys toys are Legos and anything with Star Wars. We still love all his energy and we know he is going to be a great big brother.

Emily… is pregnant. I think after 9 months that’s about all you can say. She is good, but ready to give birth. I’m not so sure I’m ready however. We are so thankful to God for the opportunity to raise a little girls and we look to him to help with all the new challenges a little one will bring.

We have had another great year at Windermere and have welcomed Dona Banks from Georgia, Jennie Parks from Texas, and the Turners from Wisconsin, as teachers and dorm parents. With these positions staffed, we still had some vacancies to fill, and I’ve been filling in here and there, finding that all my free time has been absorbed between the college and high school. Please continue to keep us in your prayers, and pray for the Yates for our summer mission teams as they being the rigorous task of summer service.
