July Newsletter '13

Greetings,

The summer is upon us and time has slipped away! When we transition from the routine of the school year to the routine of our summer team season, its like time both speeds up and slows down all at once. Weeks seem to blaze past, but each day is filled to the brim with work and projects and ministry. This month's prayerletter encompasses those aspects of mission teams and ministry.

Mission Teams

With barely a breath between the end of school and the Golden Corner Team we are now in the midst of welcoming home those church groups that come each week to give of themselves, their talents, and their time to helping serve at Windermere and worship God through their sacrifice.

I can already say that I'm both exhausted and elated to look back and see what's been accomplished in these first few weeks. The Golden Corner Team is our premier team to set the tone for the whole summer. I tasked them with what I felt was a high expectation of roof removal and replacement along with ceiling demolition. But in common fashion, this church team went above and beyond. The same can be said of Brookwood Chruch that came after them and wrapped up the loose ends of the renovation project with some tireless painting and construction. This week was then followed by Union Park Baptist church team from Iowa to finish a 3 year long renovation project that has left our school with brighter lights and cheaper electricity bills.

To all our teams thus far and those to come we say thank you and again, thank you!

Ministry in June

The end of school brought with it the end of Emily's girls club and Bible study group from the past 2 years. She had been meeting with the other Savannah Sound ladies her age for a lunch group time of caring and sharing. She would say that these are some of the best friendships she has created during our time in the Bahamas and its sad to see that time come to a close. But there's always next year.

I have been involving myself in church work as is always the case, but more frequently I have been preaching in Spanish Wells, and getting to know the Methodist congregation on that island. They have been such an encouragement to us, and it is a special treat to raise our feet from the routine on Eleuthera and get to spend a little time away (almost feels like a mini-vacation if not for the challenge of preaching).

Update

Presently we are doing wonderful. The challenges of the summer are not overwhelming us despite their rigorous hours. Instead we feel blessed and uplifted by the teams that have come here to serve. We have an exciting July to look forward to, including Kari's wedding at the highlight.
