June Newsletter '12

Greetings,

Well apart from a flu filled last week, May has been a tremendous month! We had Kari and Julie visit and they caught a sea turtle - everything else has been preparation for finishing school and graduations!

School and Church Work

I recently posted two short articles on our primary spheres of influence here on the island: at Windermere and at our local church assembly. The Windermere article recounts some of the 12th grade student's observations from their years here at Windermere, and the church article is my brief observation from participating with a work project weekend at the church. You can read about both below.

Kari and Julie Came to Visit

We always have such a great time when my sister comes to visit, and her timing couldn't have been better on her most recent trip. Shameful as I might be for asking, Kari agreed to do some work for the school during their visit and both her and Julie knocked out some major labor on the tool shed foundation during their week.

It also happened to be my birthday during their visit so they went out with me on a small fishing tour with a friend of mine - and Julie caught a sea turtle with her bare hands!!! It was amazing, and we had such a fun time.

Update

As I mentioned above, this has been a rough week. I have literally been in bed for 3 days straight with a nasty bug that just about wiped me out. And now, with me barely on the mend, Emily has come down with it and she's out of the game. Thankfully Micah is jumping and dancing healthy - with far too much energy for the both of us right now.

School finished up for most of the grades yesterday (even though I had barely any idea as to what has been going on). So, we're looking forward to shifting gears from the school routine towards summer time and our church teams.

Micah will have his preschool graduation coming up in a few weeks and he super excited about starting his New Yellow School (that's what he calls it, or sometimes Big Kids School). Most of all he's excited about the playground equipment. We're so thankful for Ms. Bethel and the love she and the staff at Agape give to Micah and all the kids, they've done an amazing job with all those A, B, C's and 1, 2, 3's.

Prayers and Praises

Praise the Lord for the end of the school year - rewarding yes, exhausting double yes
Praise the Lord for North Texas Missions and the way they've both faultlessly supplied the needs of the school and carried us and our needs for the past year - we are immensely grateful
Praise for our new missionaries, the Yates, and pray that they'll finish the support raising process with their imminent deployment in a couple months

Pray, dear Lord, for health - we're hanging by our last thread here with a mountain in front of us to climb, and I'm afraid all we are currently is two fluid filled bags of bacteria
That's it - just pray for that. I could also mention to pray for our summer teams, and finances, and school plans… but the Lord knows. Bless you for praying.
