Greetings,

April was such a fun month. We had our Easter celebration, and two birthdays for Micah, however the icing on the cake was celebrating 1 of them with Papa and Meme. Yes, mom and dad were back on Eleuthera again with the 1st ever team from Our Saviour's.

Our Saviour's Lutheran Church Team

What a blessing to have a commissioned team from my home church come to the island to serve! It was a joy to have them stay with us and work alongside to help the school and kickoff our summer project: a New Maintenance Facility/Shed.

My dad came down first as he was able to get away before the Easter holiday. He basically singlehandedly tore down the old shed that was in such disrepair (although if you ask him he'll attribute most of the help to Emily). Dad's background with felling trees came in handy to drop our shed. He made a few precision cuts, and with a tug and a little motivation from a sledgehammer, all that was left was clean up.

Mom brought down two other friends from church: Steve and Rita. They tirelessly worked to prep all the repairs for beginning the new foundation for our new summer shed. Along with working on the project, mom had plenty of time to play with Micah and even bake a batch of her famous "Meme's cookies."

We had a wonderful time with mom and dad and Steve and Rita. Emily made some fantastic dinners and I even got to cook on our new barbecue that dad helped weld together. With all the work and fun, we sure hope that this team is only the first of many growing teams to invest in God's work on the island.

Micah is 4 - Happy Birthday!

Most kids don't have it as good as Micah, because for the majority of his (4) birthdays he has been privileged to at least 2 birthday occasions per year. This is because the usual trend is to have a family member on the island with him near his birthday but not on his birthday, thus resulting in two cakes, two sets of presents, to "happy birthday" songs, and two sugar-raged-kiddy-concussions.

Update

Our favorite part of April, apart from the reunion with family each year during spring break, is the celebration of our Lord's Resurrection. Easter this year was such a joy and we even got to go to church with Dad. Then at the end of April I attended the graduation service at the Training Center for the last class I helped start over 2 years ago. It was a great time to reconnect and celebrate their completion of such a momentous achievement.

Micah (and the rest of the family) had the traditional Easter Basket Hunt with Meme, and there were all kinds of healthy treats and trinkets inside. This year Micah got a kite and with the gusts we have here on the hill it was perfect flying. Then a little delayed past Easter, Micah had his friends over for an enormous Easter Egg hunt, with special thanks to FBC Frisco and Bob Johnson for the dozens of plastic eggs and goodies. Everyone had such a fun time. Finally, Micah spent April with some friends from years back: little Evelyn and Tristan Fox (along with new baby Cambria) accompanied their parents Brad and Alicia to Micah's birthday party. It was such a blessing to reunite with them and share the joys of what the Lord has been doing in each of our lives.

Emily has been busy non-stop this month, and we both had the privilege to start back up with our weekly discipleship grouping with our friends from JC. She and Sandy are doing great, and we keep on praying for her college opportunities, beginning with her getting her passport. Now its on to the end of the school year and finish up with exams for both Sandy and our students.
