November Newsletter '08

Greetings,

November has been a wonderful month. The Bahamian heat has somewhat subsided and we are enjoying our time on the island. The month had Bible training at the beginning of it, and the first 2 weeks in December will be busy with training too. We also had a visit from our director, twice this month... one visit was due to a funeral however.

Training on the Islands

The classes are going very well here in Eleuthera. I was able to teach part of our Doctrines II class at the beginning of the month. We have had enthusiastic participation from the students, and each night we get to spend in the classroom is enriching and uplifting. We were privileged to have one of our very own graduates teach the last class, which made the experience all the more special.

Additionally, I got to teach part of the Doctrines I class in Freeport on the island of Grand Bahama. Our Freeport extension is still growing, and during our time there we got to speak with many pastors about the opportunity of future training. Freeport has a lot of potential and there is still a very real need for prayer as we continue to move forward with classes.

A visit from the Vosses

Our directors Paul and Lisa Voss made two trips down to the island this month, one for our annual board meeting, and then a second trip for an unexpected funeral, which just so happened to be the chairman of our Bahamian board, Bishop Spence Pinder. The visit was quite bitter sweet due to the circumstances, however it was still wonderful to spend time with our friends. The funeral for Spence was honoring and memorable. Spence was a dear friend and his passing will surely be felt both in our ministry and especially in his church and community.

Update
Micah turned 7 months this November, and we have lots of pictures, however I don't have them posted yet, we might just have to wait for 8 months! He is growing cuter everyday, and we are having so much fun with him. His newest trick is to crawl all around the house, and everything goes into the mouth, so we're watching him very carefully.

We are very excited to be going home on Christmas vacation after our last class of the year is finished this December. It will be a wonderful time to spend with our families and share the joy of our chubby baby with everyone!

Finally, we had Thanksgiving dinner here last week, with our friends and neighbors. I cooked the turkey while Emily did the decorating and other cooking, and our time with our friends was a special time of giving thanks for the many blessings the Lord has brought this year.
