June Newsletter '07

Greetings,

What a great month June was, and it sure seemed like it flew by. The beginning of the month saw the end of another school year for both of us, and thus June was much slower paced. But things were soon to quicken back up with Emily’s new position at Chick-fil-a and an action packed summer vacation to Orlando with all the works!

Disney Summer Vacation

Wow, we had the best trip to Disney – just ask Emily. Ever since I’ve known her, you can tell Emily just loves Disney, and I knew that if I didn’t take her there for our honeymoon then I would have to for one of our anniversaries. Although our anniversary was officially in May, we celebrated it this month, and with both of our families. All the Flunkers and Pfeisters migrated down to Florida for a week of theme parks, swimming, eating out, and sunshine. My favorite part was spending the quality time with family; Emily’s favorite part was just “EVERYTHING.”

Now, you don’t go to Disney World to relax, but we still had a wonderful time, and even though we won’t be going back for a long time – we have memories and pictures that can last forever. We also got to see our friends Paul and Lisa Voss and their kids Colby and Jessica. The Vosses were our missionary mentors during our summers in Eleuthera and Paul married us 2 years ago in Ohio.

Mission Plans

Well, we’re officially (and potentially… I might add) 1 year away from leaving Dallas for the Caribbean. And we’ve been giving a lot of thought to the exact “where” of our destination. For a long time we’ve had our hearts set on the island of Eleuthera, but lately we’ve been giving more attention and prayer to the ministry’s budding presence on the island of Grand Bahama. Dave Hawkins and others from CMA have began the process of setting up another Training Center in/and around Freeport, and currently we don’t have any staff there.

Right now, we’re just seeking the Lord’s leading and we desire to be continually open to the “wherever” of our yielding. We have never been to Freeport, yet we’re sensing the ministry’s potential there. Will you pray with us as we seek to discern our future and where the Lord will lead us?

Eleuthera Update
There always are new developments with growing ministries, and we’re excited to watch how CMA (Caribbean Ministries Association) grows. This coming month I’ll get to fly to Chattanooga to visit our US headquarters again. I have a lot of ideas for how we might keep developing and targeting our ministry. You’re sure to hear more in the forthcoming newsletters.

Currently, the ministry on Eleuthera is slower than usual. We’ve had far less teams visit this summer than ever. Brad and Alicia Fox are staying plenty busy with discipleship and their smiling baby Tristan – also we’ll be having more CMA staff visit the island this coming month. You can visit CMA’s website to keep up with events, needs and prayer requests.

Prayers and Praises
Praise for the rain in Texas, we’ve been getting rain everyday – thus also praise for safety on the wet roads
Praise that Emily is excelling in her summer interim role as Marketing Director at Chick-fil-a, and she says that it is fun for her – and she is making lots of friends (because she gives out a lot of free chicken)
Praise for an unexpected upcoming trip for me back to Wisconsin. While we were in Orlando, my folks said that they’d fly me home if I could find the time this month – thankfully my job at the church is flexible
Praise also for all of our friends that we’ve made here, fellowship is incredibly important and we’re so thankful for all the relationships we’ve made here.
Also Praise for Emily's quilt, she wanted me to add that she's very proud and thankful for completing her first quilt!

Seems like a routine prayer request – but pray for safety as we travel. We have a trip to Chattanooga and Wisconsin coming up, and if you live here you know what traffic is like – we see wrecks every day
Pray for a productive summer as I’ve got a lot that needs to get done in our preparation for our last year stateside
Pray for our leaders of CMA as we seek the Lord’s leading and direction in serving Him in this ministry
Pray for clear leading in our lives for the details of our mission appointment
Please pray for a sending church. I hope to make some phone calls this next month, but we really need a congregation of believers who can commit to praying and sending us.
