May Newsletter '07

Greetings,

May has certainly been a month of celebrations. There was birthday, an anniversary, 3 completions of school, a pseudo-graduation, a milestone, and 2 weddings!! I can’t hardly think of much more that can be packed into a month for celebrations!

The Weddings

Emily and I each had our own weddings to participate in this month. Emily’s best friend from Cedarville and roommate Erica Johnson is now Erica Kurbsak. Her wedding was in West Virginia, and Emily was very excited about being a bride’s maid. Erica was Emily’s Maid of Honor in our wedding.

I just recently got back from my old roommate, Mike Kibbe’s wedding. Mike married Annie Kerns whom he met at Cedarville. Their wedding was in northern California, and this was my first trip every to CA. Mike was a groomsman in our wedding as I got to also be in his. Weddings are wonderful times to celebrate, and after often hectic times of traveling to get there, it’s always great to watch your friends begin their new life together.

Other Celebrations

Emily's Kindergarten graduation was a production called "The Freedom 400" about racing to win - the kids just did an awesome job!

Most recently I have just finished my summer school class here at DTS. It was my final Greek class, and I’m telling you it was a doosy! I would categorize it as the hardest three weeks of school yet. I also finished up my third year of seminary with only one year left to go, thus our milestone is heading into our final countdown before we head out for Eleuthera – only 1 year, can you believe it!

Emily also finished up her second year of teaching kindergarten, so 3 school events DONE. She also had her kindergarten graduation last week and it went off superbly – the kids did a great job, and she put in a lot of time preparing; it was great to see it as a success!

And finally for May, I turned 26 and we celebrated our second anniversary. So talk about celebrations… May was nothing but parties (and summer school)! We can hardly wait for next May!

Eleuthera Update
The ministry preparation is going well; we’ve had a lot more folks ask us about support and our timetable is almost set. We’re also almost set with everything that we’re going to need on the mission field that we won’t be able to get once we’re there. Unfortunately, we don't know when we’ll be able to head back to visit the island, we had a tentative prospect of heading back this fall, but that’s still a ways off to know for sure. Please keep praying for the ministry, the students, and the staff of CMA, and you can pray for patience for us in our preparation.

Prayers and Praises
Praise that Emily’s poison ivy is completely gone. After I sent out our last prayerletter it was only a matter of days before she finally healed all up, she really had it bad though!
Praise for safe travel to our respective weddings and back. Emily’s plane started to shake and they had to turn around and get another plane, and mine had to circle the airport three times before landing because of visibility – but we made it back safely!
Praise for the competition of both of our school years
We also praise the Lord that we’ll get to see our families soon this coming month in June
Praise that the Lord continually meets all of our needs, and we’re so thankful for those of you who read our newsletter and regularly pray for us

Please pray for continued health and safety
Pray that God would help us properly prepare all that we need to serve as missionaries
Pray for safe travel this June as we will be again traveling this time to Disney World to celebrate our past anniversary with our families. Both the Flunkers and Pfeisters will be traveling too so you can pray for safe travel for our parents as well (and Kari too).
Finally, you can pray for Emily as she begins her new summer job as the Chick-fil-a interim marketing director.
