Who Are You Impacting

Emily and Mia. Mia's mom is Leah, one of the girls that Emily worked and studied with in her women's discipleship ministry.

This is the guy's Bible Study that we would have every Thursday. Mono is the one of the far right who said he knew there was a reason that I returned to the island when I did.

Basketball is the best way to get to know the guys in the settlements. Just like many new believers, a lot of these guys have a long way to know in their spiritual walk - keep praying for them.

Jesus said, “Feed my sheep,” and “Go, make disciples.” Often it isn’t "Bible answers” that people need, it is Christ-like followers that they need to imitate. I’ve mentioned it before, there are a lot of churches on Eleuthera. The one thing that there needs to be more of is authentic growing Christians.

I remember talking with one of my guys during a Bible study when he said, “The way it is... if you want to be a Christian, everyone who sees you will say, ‘I give you two weeks. Two weeks before you fail.’” In a nation that is foundationally Christian, the Bahamas still need to see what an example of Christian living looks like.

One time when I was returning to the island for a summer, one of my good friends from our settlement walked to the Center to tell me that he “knew there must be a reason” for my return. He had been avoiding God since last we ended our discipleship, and he knew with me back on the island I would challenge him to be accountable to his decision to become a Christ-follower.

One of my other good friends, and a graduate from the Training Center said that, “The Training Center has better educated me in the Word, and trained me to go out and spread the Word.”

Fitzroy George said that the Training Center has, “Brought new life to James Cistern.” He would say that JC had a lot of sin and the TC has brought it new life.

Wade Weinbruger said, [in a spin-off from John 3:16] “God so loved Eleuthera, that He gave us the Bible Training Center.”

There are countless more stories of how the lives in James Cistern and the surrounding settlements have been impacted and changed to serve God and bring glory to our Lord Jesus Christ, including our own lives. Emily and I will both tell you story after story on how our experience in Eleuthera has shaped who we've become.

Personally, I love the fact that EBTC is a relatively new ministry which is still growing and expanding. The growth is fast and explosive, and it is very charging to part of that process. Regardless of the adrenaline rush, it is the lives of those who have been touched by the Word of God and the transformation of sinners saved by grace that ignites our passion to serve the Lord in Eleuthera. You too can be part of this adventure…
